Hair Dye On Your Carpet? 4 Quick Directions To Eliminate The Stain Forever

Home & Garden Blog

Love the idea of restoring your gorgeous brown or black locks? Or perhaps you're in the mood to uplift your appearance with a bold red or blonde look. Either way, hair dye allows you to make the changes you desire. And while you're blissfully anticipating your new look, a hair dye spill on your carpet can turn into a horrifying nightmare –– unless you undertake these quick carpet cleaning directions to eliminate the stain forever.

Dampen A Cloth With Water And Blot The Stain

The trick for removing hair dye is to treat the stain as quickly as you can. The minute you spill hair dye, dampen a clean cloth with cold water and blot the stain carefully. Take care not to rub or scrub the stain because you risk forcing the stain deeper into the carpet fibres. Blot as many times as possible to lighten the dye from the carpet surface.

Prepare A Mixture Of White Vinegar, Dishwashing Liquid And Water

Once done, mix a cup filled with water and white vinegar in equal proportions. Add some dishwashing liquid drops to this and mix well. White vinegar contains acetic acid, which makes it a good cleaning agent for lifting all kinds of stains from carpets and other flooring surfaces.

Sprinkle The Mixture Over The Stain And Dab Gently

Sprinkle this mixture generously over the stained carpet area. Let it sit for several minutes. The combination of these ingredients will help to lift the stain more easily from your carpet. Use a clean cloth to dab the stain gently. Repeat this carpet cleaning step a few times because it will remove your hair dye stain completely after a few attempts.

Rinse With Cold Water And Allow To Dry

Once you've noticed the stain disappearing, you will need to remove the vinegar, dishwashing liquid and water solution from the carpet. Simply sprinkle the stained area with some cold water and use a dry sponge over it until most of the water has soaked up. Once you have soaked up as much water as possible, let the carpet dry before letting anyone step on it once again. Avoid using artificial heat to dry the carpet because the fibres can shrivel and wither. You may use the cold part of your hairdryer after the carpet has dried naturally to fluff the carpet fibres once again.

Don't let the dread of hair dye stains stop you from experimenting with your appearance. If you do end up dropping some hair dye, follow these quick carpet cleaning directions to eliminate the stain forever. For more information, contact Stain Busters Carpet Cleaning or a similar company.

Creating An Organised And Functional Kitchen

The kitchen is the most used room in my home, and in the past, I found it could get messy and chaotic very quickly. Trying to cook dinner when you can't find an essential appliance or see past the clutter on the counter is no fun. I realised I enjoyed my time in the kitchen more and was more productive when my kitchen was organised and laid out in a way that optimised functionality. I changed my kitchen cleaning and organising routine, decluttered, got rid of appliances I don't use and moved things around to ensure frequently used items were easy to reach. I started this blog to share my tips for creating a kitchen that's enjoyable to use, and I post about ways you can optimise the space you have. I hope you find my posts useful.
